Cake fit for the King

Elvis Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.

When you have multiple loved ones who share the King’s birthday, it seems only right to make their cakes as delicious as possible – Graceland good. Although I feel a Peanut Butter cake would be more up Elvis’ alley, this Black Forest cake was requested by his b’day contemporaries. (Note to self: explore PB cake ideas…)

I followed Martha Stewart’s recipe from her book Cakes.

The topping is simply: whipped cream and a can of cherry pie filling.

My only advice for the perfect cake is to crank the King’s tunes and mix in a hunk of burning love.
